Student Life

Life at TCS

    • Main Banner

We are committed to intentionally shaping students toward an ideal of the good, wise, and virtuous young man or woman of faith.  This aim requires both the cultivation of wisdom and the training of affections, but we also believe the abundant life Jesus offers us is deep and rich and FUN!
It is our aim to create a community of students and families who drink deeply of His goodness and enjoy all that He has graciously given us.  Relationship with each other is one of the greatest gifts He offers and the TCS community is a beautiful reflection of that gift.  Our school’s culture is full of connectedness, esteeming others, and having fun together.

Students enjoy the rhythm of being in school a few days every week and doing schoolwork from home on the other days.  These home days provide opportunities for families to connect and do school work together.  Because so many of our students spend time schooling at home with siblings in various grades and stages, our students are uniquely and organically connected across grade levels.  We also offer a buddy system where our older students are paired with students in younger grades and they spend special time together during buddy lunches and at chapel throughout the year.

We also intentionally connect our community in a variety of ways.  Just before school begins each fall, we host a mandatory Welcome Weekend full of practical training for each co-teacher, high-level vision casting for our shared mission, and myriad opportunities to connect and be encouraged at the outset of the year.  Our Academic Team also offers grade-level trainings throughout the year to support, empower, and encourage co-teachers throughout the year.
Each quarter we enjoy a schoolwide family read aloud.  Every family reads the same book over a period of time and then we come together to celebrate the beauty of that particular story with a communitywide party.  We highly value quality literature and love digging into story together to learn and grow over shared experiences.

We are a community of like-minded parents, choosing to link arms in this important task of discipling and educating the next generation.  As such, we provide opportunities for parents to connect with and support each other throughout the year.  Our dads meet once a quarter for an early morning Dads' Bible Study & Coffee to dig deeper into God's Word and build relationships; our moms meet for a quarterly community-building Moms' Coffee on campus; and then we organize regular Parents' Nights Out to foster a deeper sense of connectedness among all parents.

Additionally, each class takes a field trip each semester and several longer class trips are offered in the Schools of Logic and Rhetoric.  Our older students look forward to these class trips to enjoy time away together to build deeper relationships and to explore different parts of the state, country, and eventually the world.
