3 Year Olds

Three Year Olds General Standards and Objectives
Three year old classes have a maximum of 15 children per class. There is a teacher and an aide in each room at all times to ensure one on one time and safety.

We will work on separating from our parents for 2 to 2 ½ hours (depending on chosen class). This is new to a lot of children and can be hard for them to comprehend at first. We try to make the transition smooth and comfortable for all children. We hope to let them know that they are safe and loved at their school. We will also work on making friendships and socializing while sharing and learning.

Faith: We have a great faith curriculum that involves the children and their parents. Stories, songs and prayers are sent home for parents to get involved in their child’s faith journey. Classes will work on one story per month. Activities and projects will go along with each story to make the stories fun and memorable.

We will work on learning to sit in a group, using our listening skills for 5 to 10 minutes at a time. We also work on keeping hands to ourselves, and focusing on group activities (music, stories, poems, etc.)

Academics

Throughout the year, we hope to accomplish:

  1. Saying our ABC’s
  2. Recognizing eight basic shapes
  3. Recognizing 10 basic colors
  4. Learn to recognize and be able to trace our name
  5. Learn to hold scissors and cut close to lines with thumbs up
  6. Learn to count to ten
  7. Learn to match objects

There is a great playground at our school, and a large room to play in when it is not possible to go outside for large muscle play.

We have a pumpkin patch field trip in the fall. We also have a variety of visitors such as the Police Department, Fire Department, Raptor Center, etc.

Holidays are celebrated here with parties throughout the year. We have Thanksgiving and Fall party activities in October and November, and a Christmas cookie decorating party in December.

Potty Training

It is our hope that children are potty trained by the first day of preschool. If there is a question as to how the child will do, we ask that you have the child in pull-ups. We will change the child if there is an accident, but will call parents to come to the school, if frequent accidents occur.
