Shrove Tuesday is also called Fat Tuesday. Traditionally on that day, a thrifty housewife uses up the fats that she has kept for cooking, but will not use during Lent. Since pancakes are a standard way of using up fat, the day is also called Pancake Tuesday. In England and elsewhere around the world, Pancake Tuesday is celebrated with pancake races. The contestants run a course while holding a griddle & flipping pancakes. Points are awarded for time, number & height of flips, & number of times the pancake turns over. There are of course penalties for dropping the pancake. The TCS Pancake Feed is an All-You-Can Eat event with the dinner menu consisting of pancakes, sausage, eggs, fruit and juice. Adults are $6.00, children 4-12 years old are $3.00 and children under 3 eat FREE. There will be a Pancake Eating Contest as well as Pancake Races for the kids. So bring your aprons & hats and get ready to run the race! This is a great way to get families connected and help support your local Christian School.
